Every WAFFLE can be solved in 10 moves or fewer with strategic planning.

The fewer moves you use, the higher your score! ⭐

Gameplay

Your goal is to rearrange the letters in the grid to form 6 valid words: 3 horizontal words and 3 vertical words. All the letters you need are already in the grid—you just need to swap them to find the correct positions.

To make a swap: Click on two letters to swap their positions. Each swap uses one move, and you have a limited number of moves to solve the puzzle. The tiles will change color to give you feedback about whether letters are in the correct positions.

Understanding the Colors

Green: This letter is in the correct position

P
E
R
K
Y

The letter P is in the correct position for this word.

Yellow: This letter belongs in the word, but in a different position

K
N
O
L
L

The letter N belongs in this horizontal word, but not in this position.

Gray: This letter doesn't belong in this word at all

T
A
X
L
E

The letter X does not belong in this word—swap it with a letter from another word.

Complete Example

Let's look at a complete Waffle puzzle to see how the colors help you solve it:

S
S
P
E
T
A
I
E
E
P
A
S
R
O
L
A
K
T
E
I
E

In this puzzle, several letters are in wrong positions (yellow) or wrong words entirely (gray). Notice how the center column and row already have some correct letters (green). After making strategic swaps, we solve it:

P
E
R
E
S
E
I
E
S
P
A
I
T
O
T
A
S
L
A
K
E

Perfect! All letters are now in the correct positions (all green). The six words are: PERES (top), SPAIT (middle), SLAKE (bottom), PESOS (left), RIATA (center), and SETAE (right).

Important Tips & Special Cases

Corner Tiles (Intersections)

The 4 corner tiles of the grid are special—each corner belongs to both a horizontal and a vertical word. When a corner tile is yellow, it means the letter belongs in either the horizontal word or the vertical word (or possibly both), but not in that exact position.

B
O
O
K

This yellow O means it belongs in either the horizontal word (→) or the vertical word (↓), just not at this corner.

Words with Repeated Letters

When a word contains the same letter multiple times, only the correct number of instances will be highlighted. If a word contains two S's but you have three S's in that row, only two will show as green or yellow.

Before: The word needs only ONE S, so the second S is gray:

H
S
A
S
E

After swapping: Now that S is in the correct position, the first S turns gray:

H
S
A
S
E

Tip: If you see gray letters, they need to be swapped with letters from other words!

Strategy Tips

  • Start by focusing on green letters—they're already in the right place!
  • Look for gray letters—these definitely need to be swapped out.
  • Work on completing one word at a time, starting with words that have the most green letters.
  • Remember that swapping one pair of letters affects both a horizontal AND a vertical word!
  • Plan your moves carefully—you have a limited number of swaps!
